Travelling to the moon means a radical change of perspective that reveals the limits of human existence and expands them at the same time. This is why trips to the moon – regardless of whether they are told in fictional or documentary form – make it possible to question existing orders and develop counter-designs. The current lunar missions, however, primarily evoke extractivist visions of the future that take into account neither the already tested effects here on earth nor the possible effects on lunar nature.
From a chemical point of view, almost all of the mineral deposits on the moon that are of human interest can also be found on Earth and are already being used in industrial processes. Following this analogy, Wenzel explored the geological aftermath of local mining, incorporating it into a voyage to the moon that depicts the devastation of a landscape, the loss of a companion, and the disruption of a vision.

Eine Reise zum Mond bedeutet einen radikalen Perspektivwechsel zu vollziehen, in dem die Grenzen menschlicher Existenz aufgezeigt und gleichwohl erweitert werden. Deshalb ermöglichen Mondreisen – unabhängig davon, ob sie fiktional oder dokumentarisch erzählt werden – bestehende Ordnungen zu hinterfragen und Gegenentwürfe zu entwickeln. Die aktuellen Mondmissionen evozieren jedoch in erster Linie extraktivistische Zukunftsvisionen, die weder die bereits erprobten Auswirkungen hier auf Erden noch die möglichen auf dem Mond berücksichtigen.
Aus chemischer Sicht sind fast alle für den Menschen interessanten Mineralvorkommen auf dem Mond auch auf der Erde zu finden und dort bereits in industrielle Prozesse eingebunden. In Anlehnung an diese Analogie untersuchte Wenzel die geologischen Folgen lokalen Bergbaus und integrierte sie in ein installatives Mondreisenarrativ, das von der Verwüstung einer Landschaft, den Verlust eines Gefährten und der Umnachtung einer Vision erzählt.
