margarita wenzel’s ongoing research investigates how knowledge is stored, transmitted, and reactivated through spatial, sonic, and visual infrastructures. Working with archival images, displaced objects, and narrative systems, she develops installations that treat both the archive and the body as sites of resonance and control. Her projects examine how historical narratives persist through technical and institutional dispositifs, and how these structures can be both displayed and disrupted through processes of extraction, fragmentation, and re-voicing. By reconfiguring these elements in space, Wenzel creates what she calls “relational ensembles”, that redistribute perception and unsettle dominant regimes of representation.
Studied at Bauhaus University, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and Burg Giebichenstein University, where she received the distinction of Meisterschülerin and later held a teaching position. Her projects have been presented in Germany, France, Belgium, and Turkey, including a recent residency at Fondation Fiminco (Paris). Wenzel lives and works Paris and at the North Sea.
